My yoga class has evolved over the last 12 months to a class that is great for improving posture, stretching, toning and relaxing the mind and body.  I have listened to comments and reactions over time and have added elements that should be suitable for all abilities. In class you can expect a warm up followed by some powerful upper body sequences that together with correct breathing can enhance the body from the inside out. The floor work includes some great postures and moves for the core, which can be challenging.  but always has lower options for those who need them.  We also include some great leg stretches and hip openers, which are very popular with my ladies. These are particularly helpful for those who run or cycle frequently as they stretch out all the muscles and release any tension. Some weeks I also do include resistance bands which i provide, These are used for both the upper body and leg work to increase stretches.  These bands are often used when recovering from some injuries or broken bones to improve movement and strength when recovering.

At the end of the class I include a 10 minute relaxation/meditation section which involves using certain breathing, visualization and relaxation techniques, to leave you calm and ready for a good nights sleep. We lead such busy lives these days, and I believe it is so important to make some ‘Me’  time, however small,  to switch off and re-energise,  I also use a scent diffuser in class using a mixture of  essential oils to aid relaxation and bring calm.

If you come to class you will need a large thick towel or yoga mat that is suitable for floor work and maybe some water if you wish to take a drink between postures. My yoga class is a very relaxed class, where we do have laughs and giggles, as this is all part of the therapy. Join us every Wednesday 7pm at Fairfax school.
