After speaking to some of my ladies over the last few days, I felt I needed to write a little blog about exercise and when we feel we have lost our modjo.
Firstly it is totally normal and acceptable to lose your modjo/interest for exercise. Its very normal during ‘normal’ times, let alone in such difficult and uncertain times we find ourselves in right now. I from time to time, feel exactly the same. However I have classes to teach and lovely ladies to keep fit and healthy, so I have no option but to carry on. My advice to those who feel they are somehow, being ‘naughty’ or lazy by not doing as many classes as you should do ideally, please do not beat yourself up. If you dwell on this too much you can easily spiral into a vicious circle, and then encourage binge eating and drinking which will make matters so much worse and give your a bigger mountain to climb. Of course I would recommend exercising at least 2 to 3 times a week, whether doing my classes, going for a walk, jogging or taking the dog out. It is so important to keep active for your mental and physical health, but it also important to sometimes, take a step back, accept you are human and that the current climate is going to have an affect on us all from time to time. Just take some time out, reset, and set yourself some realistic goals for when you are going to restart. This could be taking more walks, or trying out different classes with me online. Once you restart, make a note of the exercise you are doing, on a planner, in your diary, make it a positive experience and get the whole family involved, give yourself a pat on the back for getting back on track.
Please remember as quoted in one of my favourite ‘cool down’ tracks, ‘We are only human’, it is ok to feel down or not to have the energy to exercise from time to time, but also remember exercise will make you feel so much better after you have done it, releasing those happy hormones.
If you need a chat or advice I am here, via the phone or email, you are not alone.
Take care xxx
Bev
