Firstly group exercise is not only great for your body, it is great for your mental health. Time and time again ladies from class tell me how much better they feel after a class. How it makes them feel more positive and also more relaxed. Working out together with like-minded people is also great for making new friends and keeping you motivated. I am told on a regular basis how so many of you now hate missing a class and arrange your social life around them! This is a massive compliment! Working out on your own in a gym can be a lonely affair, and all too easy to give up on, as there is no accountability. Group exercise is more fun too. We also encourage interaction and in some classes singing and dancing together which is always great for releasing the ‘feel good’ hormones.
Also the beauty of coming to our classes is that you have the consistency of one instructor and classes. Although i do like to vary the content and music of my classes, I don’t believe in chopping and changing them too much. I am told often that i offer a good mixture of classes, something for all tastes. Also my classes are open to all ages. Younger age group must be accompanied by adult. Recently there has been a big increase in family members working out together too, which is lovely, mothers and daughters in particular have been joining us recently.
It is lovely to see new ladies attend classes and make new friends, and some life long friends too. Some ladies also come along and see old friends they had lost touch with. I do know that it can be so daunting taking the first step through the door to a new class, but we are such a friendly community, you have nothing to worry about, and everybody is so encouraging.
