Don’t be a couch potato!

I am always telling my ladies that there are so many great reasons to keep active and exercise.  It is not only about keeping fit and healthy but it is also great for your mind, and general well-being.  To promote exercise further,  keeping active to avoid heart disease,  is back in the news this week!  Did you know that almost of all adults in the North West of England are officially ‘couch potatoes’ according to new research?? It appears across the UK millions of adults are failing to meet government guidelines on exercise and women are 36 % more likely to be physically inactive than men!  We cant have that can we ladies??

The report also shows that physical inactivity is very high among people who have then gone on to suffer cardiac disease. The evidence from the report show the less active you are,  goes hand in hand with poor health. It’s also quite shocking to see that the average man spends a fifth of their lifetime sitting ( 78 days per year) and a woman is around 74 days a year!

If this rings some bells with you, and you know you need to be more active, now is the time to start!  Of course i would suggest coming to my classes, as there is a mixture of exercise styles which ideally is what you need.  Mix your exercise with some cardio, some resistance or body weight exercise, HIIT and Yoga are great for this and ensure you are exercising 3/4 times a week.  My dance classes are designed to improve your cardio fitness, this is ‘ the ability of the heart, blood cells and lungs to supply oxygen-rich blood to the working muscles and the ability of the muscles to use oxygen to produce energy for movement.’ Also these classes are great for toning and improving posture too.  All of this and you don’t even realize you are working out!

If you don’t want to be a couch potato and want to live a healthy and happy lifestyle then its time  do something about it…. your heart will thank you xx
